This was Ron's 2nd appearance for the program and had a wonderful evening playing for dozens of patien's in their private rooms. It's an honor to play with the Musician's On Call program. It's so
different from playing at bars or coffeshops. There is such an immediate connection with the patients. It is a wonderful experience.

Starting 2004 on a positive note, here's an excerpt from a review of the
Pearls Before Swine Tribute Album For The Dead In Space, Volumes II and II. A few other musicians did fine attempts to reconsider the real original content (with Ron Chelsvig being closest to being inspired from a similar musical content source...) Still in a world of commercial bland palliatives, this tribute CD thankfully does a valuable service to the flame of Tom Rapp / PBS (Pearls Before Swine) in that it makes him opaquely visible to a potentially new generation. Also, on
the music page are new full band recordings including
Living In a World What's Going On? Would You Look My Way. We hope you enjoy, and that we'll see you out at a show sometime soon.
Finished recording and mixing "Would You Look My Way" featuring Ron on
vocals and 12-string guitar, Bob Sauler on electric guitar and bass, Bruce
Rogers on drums and Caryn
Lin on electric violin. We are all very pleased with the outcome. This song rocks!
New songs written in October: Bridge of Love (a sort of spacey
song about perceptions of sight and sound and wisdom), Psycho Gurl (ahhhh joys of dating) and a few songs with no words yet, but the words will come when they are ready.
Orders can now be placed for the Pearls Before Swine Tribute Album For The Dead In Space, Volumes II and III through. secreteye.org
Continued recording and writing new material. New songs written this month: "Where Are You Now?" (a sad, lonely love song; gotta have at least one of them in the mix, right?), "Man In Black" (written September 12, 2003 the morning Johnny Cash died), and "Two Lonely People" (a song about two lovers who share their love).
Ron gets airplay on WXPN in
Philadelphia! The song Rocket Man from the upcoming Pearls Before Swine Tribute Album is played on the Sunday morning radio show, Sleepy Hollow with host Keith Brand. Thank You Keith!!
Finished recording and mixing "Livin In A World" and "What's Going On?" Begin recording on "Would You Look My Way" and "Dada" We have ended up adding the spirit of John Bonham on Would You Look My Way which has given this song a life
it's never seen before. The recording sessions have been so inspirational. It's so great to see a project flower and grow, letting things just happen in the studio, everyone is adding so many great ideas and moods to the music.
The working title of the Pearls Before Swine Tribute Album is For The Dead In Space, Volumes II and III a two CD-set featuring 25 artists from around the world
paying tribute to the music of Tom Rapp. Ron's arranged and produced the song, Rocket Man for the compilation. Appearing on the track are Kitty Bobnak on cello, and James H. Cooper on bass guitar and Ron on guitar, vocals and trumpet. Continued work on the second CD. Musicians on the project: Bob Sauler (guitar and bass guitar), Mike Trimble (guitar), Bruce Rogers (drums and percussion)
and Frank Vincent (harmonica). Living In A World and What's Going On? are near completion.
Ron is back in the studio to begin working on his second CD. This will be his
biggest project to date with a full band of musicians. Many of the songs will be re-recordings from his demo CD which came out earlier this year. Ron is working with Bruce Rogers at The Recovery Room Studio near sunny Philadelphia.
Ron will be appearing on the Acoustic Rock Show with Maria Chambers (89.1 FM - Philly) on Sunday April 27 at 10 PM. The broadcast will feature a brief interview and a live performance. Be sure and tune in!
Ron is currently working on a Tribute Album project for the works of Tom
Rapp, the leader of the 60's 70's band, Pearls Before Swine. He has been covering and recording Rapp's song, Rocket Man and after a recent conversation with Rapp, Ron was given the opportunity to submit a recording of the song to the project. The Pearls Before Swine tribute album is scheduled for release in Spring 2003. Updates for ordering will follow.
